My mother in law compares my flat income to my brother in law's income pretty regularly. The difference is that I live in a low cost of living state, whereas he lives in a high cost of living state, so the wages have to be higher for people to get by. He and his girlfriend both work, and they rent a studio apartment, whereas my wife doesn't work, and, on my income alone, we own a 4 bedroom house.

How successful can those people be if they had to resort to working for their parents? Seems to me like no one else hired them. It's usually how it goes in my country. Also please have in mind that if your kids work for you you basically own them. They (the parents) aren't so much proud as they are happy to be running their kids' lives. There is a very good reason why you should leave your parent's house and make it on your own once you're of age.
